Documenting the Belfast and Glasgow nightlife scenes since 2009, Crawford has captured some of the most fabulous, creative & daring acts and personalities to grace the stage
Specialising in portrait and nightlife photography with a style consisting of colourful and energetic imagery.
Born in Hampshire and raised in Northern Ireland, he moved to Belfast and completed a degree in Visual Communication in 2009. While he specialises in portraiture, his work has also included fashion editorials and documentary - all of which connect to the main themes within his work.
He worked for a decade in Belfast, documenting the LGBT scene and working with a wide variety of creatives throughout the fashion, art & performance sectors. He’s been published internationally, in Beyond Man: Volume One, Pink Mince, Crotch!, GNI Magazine & What White Elephant. As well as publishing his own one-off magazine “BAKE”, in 2014.
As part of Outburst Queer Arts Festival in Belfast 2012, his exhibition titled “F.Q.U.: Framing Queer Ulster” - a collection of LGBT portraits from 2009-2012 - was shown in Belfasts QFT.
His subjects have included people of all gender-identities, drag queens, artists, actors, musicians, freaks, Jedi knights, party boys and glamorous creatures.
“People fascinate me; who they are, what they look like, where they're from & why they do what they do.”
Capturing this has always been one of the main aims within his work, using aspects of the subjects personality and own creativity to influence its outcome.
